There was silence for about two minutes before Mary spoke again, “One other thing,”
Mike dropped her hand and listened.
She went on, “As you know, I’ve made quite a number of mistakes and I’ve suffered their consequences but I don’t intend to repeat any of them.”
Mike wondered what she was driving at.
“I’ve been celibate since I gave my life to Jesus and I intend to remain that way until I marry. I want to know your opinion about that.”
He laughed. “Fine, that’s alright. It’s okay by me … I mean … that’s how it’s supposed to be for every Christian. I don’t have any problem with that. I’m surprised you’re asking for my opinion.”
“I don’t want to assume your opinion. I know quite a number of men who call themselves Christians but think premarital sex is okay.”
Mike smiled, “Well, such men are not good Christians. Some of them may not even be born again. I’m sure you know I’m different, I’m not like them.”

*** 1 Corinthians 6: 12-18 (New living translation)
12 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.
13 You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.
14 And God will raise us from the dead by his power, just as he raised our Lord from the dead.
15 Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never!
16 And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one.”
17 But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.
18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.
19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,
20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
*** When it comes to issues like premarital sex, a person’s spiritual level plays a major role. It’s a matter of what the person knows about God and His ways, and the amount of the word of God in the person’s heart. And as the Bible says, by their fruits you shall know who knows God.
Some people have believed satan’s lies that premarital sex is ok if they love their partners or will get married to their partners. Some also believe that they need to ‘test’ their partners before marriage or know the person’s ability. There are also those who believe that everyone is doing it. But NO! Not everyone is doing it.
There are some men who will not do it, men who are sold out to God, men who fear God and are yielded to Him.
Sex before marriage is not right and Christians who engage in it are breaking God’s laws and are not following Jesus. They are not honouring God.
But all hope is not lost. Anyone who has been involved in premarital sex needs to repent and begin to live according to biblical standards.
